Iran’s COVID-19 crisis: the urgent need for sanctions relief
Iran is one of the countries hardest hit by coronavirus. But U.S. sanctions prevent its government from buying crucial medicine and equipment – at a time when it needs it most – and Washington is only ratcheting up the pressure. If not humanity, then self-interest alone should compel the U.S. government to immediately lift crippling sanctions so Iranians can most effectively fight a virus that know no borders.
