WASHINGTON, DC — The Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft (QI) is pleased to announce the appointment of theater director and film producer Peter Richards to its governing board.
“A dedicated philanthropist committed to the general betterment of humanity, Peter’s moral compass undoubtedly speaks to our board’s underlying convictions,” said Quincy Institute chairman Stephen Heintz. “We really look forward to hearing his perspectives in pursuit of a more peaceful world”.
Richards is the treasurer of the Broad Reach Foundation, a family foundation that promotes human coexistence and healthy ecosystems, and champions underrepresented viewpoints that lead to sustainable change. Prior to joining the board of the Quincy Institute, Peter served on the Advisory Board of the Center for Middle East Public Policy at RAND Corporation and currently serves on RAND’s Global and Emerging Risk Advisory Board.
Peter develops and produces independent films through Working Barn Productions, a company he runs with his wife in Los Angeles. He has directed and acted throughout the United States and Europe, including in Germany, France, and Russia. Recently, he directed two contemporary plays: Birds of North America, by Anna Ouyang Moench, and Lucas Hnath’s A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney. Peter holds a MFA in acting from the American Repertory Theater Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University.
“We are delighted to have Peter on board,” said QI CEO Lora Lumpe. “A man of many hats – philanthropist, thespian, and writer, to name a few – Peter offers a unique perspective to our governing body.”
Founded in 2019, the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft is an action-oriented think tank that brings together a broad coalition of Americans from across the political spectrum to end endless wars and bottomless military spending.
