Greg Lane is a non-resident fellow at the Quincy Institute. He is a national security and foreign policy expert with decades of experience in the US intelligence community. In 2019 Mr. Lane retired from a 30-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Operations. At the time of his separation from the USG, he was a member of the CIA’s Senior Intelligence Service. In addition to his significant overseas experience where he served multiple tours as Chief and Deputy Chief of Station—CIA’s field commands, Mr. Lane also held a variety of senior positions at CIA HQS working on Counterproliferation and Counterterrorism issues. Mr. Lane has worked extensively with US and foreign militaries, law enforcement agencies, and intelligence services. He is a graduate of both UC Santa Barbara and of the London School of Economics.
