As Chief Executive Officer of the Quincy Institute, Lora Lumpe provides overall leadership and guidance on QI’s strategic priorities and direction, catalyzes new project activities, and is responsible for managing QI’s day-to-day operations. Prior to leading Quincy Institute, she was an advocacy director for U.S. foreign policy at the Open Society Foundations, George Soros’ global philanthropy. There, from 2011-2020, she engaged in strategic grantmaking, field building, and campaigning aimed at ending America’s endless wars. She has worked on or led a half dozen humanitarian disarmament campaigns — from chemical weapons to cluster munitions. She edited Running Guns: The Global Black Market in Small Arms (Zed Books, 1999 and 2003) and Small Arms Control: Old Weapons, New Issues (Routledge, 2000) and authored The Arms Trade Revealed: A Guide for Investigators and Activists (Federation of American Scientists, 1998).
